2 employees of DC office stand released

Lalmonirhat, Jan 23 (UNB) - Two office assistants of the deputy commissioner’s office were stand released Sunday on charges of using fake court fee stamps and taking bribe.
The punitive action was taken against Abdul Aziz and Shahidul Islam, office assistants of the DC office stationed at the record room section.
Sources said Aziz and Shahidul had long been taking Tk 200 from people each in the name of providing them with land-related information. They were also members of a syndicate using fake court fee stamps.
Many complaints were lodged with Deputy Commissioner Mokhlesar Rahman Sarker in this regard, the sources added.
On Sunday, the DC went to the record room section and caught Aziz and Shahidul red-handed while they were taking bribe.
Later, he stand released them in an immediate action against them.
An official said the syndicate has long been using fake court fee stamps, causing a loss in revenue.
He said a vendor who is involved in supplying fake stamps has been identified. An investigation committee has also been formed, he said, adding that stern action would be taken against them on the basis of the probe report.
