BUCHAREST, JAN 25 (AP/UNB) - Snowstorms and high winds have swept southern Romania, causing havoc on the roads and leading to the cancellation of some trains.

Railway official Adrian Vlaicu said some trains from downtown Bucharest to the airport would be canceled Wednesday so the tracks could be cleared. Snow began falling late Tuesday and continued
through Wednesday in 17 southern counties, with forecasters saying more snow and winds of up to 90 kph (56 mph) were expected.

Emergency services official Daniel Vasile said a dozen cars were damaged in Bucharest after 25 trees fell on them. Snow also snarled traffic in the capital.
