Dhaka, Feb 6 (UNB) -Environmentalists and anti-tobacco activists at a campaign programme on Monday demanded enactment of a strong anti-tobacco law to protect people from adverse consequences of tobacco use.

They said as around 57,000 people die from tobacco related diseases and about 382, 000 paralised in the country each year, a strong anti-tobacco law can help them cut tobacco use as well as protect them from its adverse consequences.

Green Mind Society and WBB Trust jointly organised the campaign programme at Banani in the city this (Monday) morning, aiming to create awareness against tobacco use.

President of Green Mind Society Amir Hasan, anti-tobacco activists Mosharraf Hossain, Masud Rana, Ali Mohammad Arif, Monir Hossain and Haripad Das, among others, spoke at the campaign programme.
