Noakhali, Feb 10 (UNB) - Communications Minister Obaidul Quader on Friday said now traffic jam is a bigger problem than the Padma Bridge standoff.
The minister came up with the remarks while inaugurating the newly-built building of Kabirhat police station in the morning.
About 85-90 percent work on planning for the construction of the Padma Bridge has been completed. "If the process of disbursing fund by the World Bank is delayed, the construction on it will start with alternative arrangements," he said.
Several countries and companies have already expressed their eagerness in constructing the bridge.
Work on construction of the 2nd Padma Bridge will also start during the tenure of the present government, the minister said.
Obaidul asked the authorities concerned to complete road repair works before the monsoon sets in.
Chittagong range DIG of police Mohammad Nuasher Ali, among others, was present on the occasion.
