Moulvibazar, Oct 17 (UNB) - Elder brother of wife of former Army Chief Gen Moin U Ahmed and 15 of her family have been sued in an extortion case with Moulvibazar Model thana.

Mujibur Rahman, brother of London expatriate Awami League leader M A Rahim, filed the case on Thursday night accusing Reza Ahmed, brother of Gen Moin’s wife, and 15 others of his family of extortion of Tk 2 crore tolls during the army backed caretaker government.

He said M R Tower in the town purchased by his brother at a cost of Tk 15 crore was forcibly occupied by Reza Ahmed with the help of musclemen and extorted Tk 2 crore in cash and 18 cheques on bank from him at different times. He wanted to file case at that time but police declined to take the case.

Mujibur further said in his petition that his brother M A Rahim had recently came home from London and tried in vain to get back the extorted money from Reza Ahmed through village arbitration.

Following the case, Zaman, one of the accused, was arrested today, police said.
