Dhaka, Feb 26 (UNB) – Finance Minister AMA Muhith on Sunday said he will place separate statements before the parliament on the first two quarters of the current fiscal (July-December) of the country’s economy in the first week of March.
Muhith stated this when the newly elected office bearers of the Economic Reporters Forum (ERF) met him at his secretariat office.
Newly elected ERF president Khawza Mainuddin, general secretary Abdur Rahim Harmachi, immediate past president Monwar Hossain, and executive committee members of the ERF were present in the meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, the Finance Minister also informed that a seminar on ‘State of the Economy’ will be held on March 31, organised by the Ministry of Finance and initiated by the ruling Awami League.
Country’s leading think tanks -- Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS), Center for Policy Dialogue (CPD), Policy Research Institute (PRI), Economic Research Group (ERG), and Policy Participation and Research Institute (PPRI) -- are likely to take part at the seminar.
When the Finance Minister’s attention was drawn to make arrangement for a permanent office of the ERF to conduct its official activities, Muhith assured the Forum of considering the matter.
