Chittagong, Mar 03 (UNB) - A Bangladeshi expatriate and his minor son were killed in a fatal road accident in Al-Hur area of Qatar`s capital Doha on Saturday morning.
Six other people were also injured in the crash.
The dead were identified as Shakil Khaled, 45, senior officer of Qatar Commercial Bank, and his minor son Hamid Khaled of Chittagong district. Shakil was the son of late Saifuddin Ahmed, former general secretary of Qatar Cricket Association (QCA).
Shakil`s close relative, Saif Ahmed, Public Relations Officer of Chittagong City Corporation, told UNB that eight people, including Shakil and Hamid were returning to downtown Doha from Al-Hur area, about 15 kilometers from the city heart, in a car at 6 am (local time of Qatar).
The car was running fast as the road was clear, Saif said quoting his friends in Qatar.
The vehicle skidded off the road and dashed a boundary wall as its driver lost control over the steering, leaving the Bangladeshi banker and his son instantly killed and six others injured.
He said Hamid was a class IV student of Modern Indian School situated in Doha.
A process is underway to bring their bodies back to Bangladesh as early as possible, Saif said, quoting members of the bereaved family who reside at Munsipara at North Tattali, Chittagong.
