News - Firearms recovered from BNP men, claims Tuku
Dhaka, Mar 12 (UNB) - State Minister for Home Affairs Shamsul Haque Tuku on Monday claimed that a good number of firearms have been recovered from Dhaka-bound BNP activists to attend its today’s rally.

“The BNP men were carrying the firearms to carry out subversive acts in the name of the mass rally,” he said while talking to reporters at the Secretariat.

The junior minister also held BNP responsible for the sufferings of the city dwellers due to scarcity of vehicles.

He said people have lost their trust in BNP as it created an anarchic situation in the country in September and December last year in the name of demonstrations.

“Transport owners have kept their vehicles off the roads fearing vandalism by BNP men which led to the sufferings of the city dwellers,” Tuku said.

He alleged that the BNP is holding the grand rally to save the war criminals like Ghulam Azam, Matiur Rahman Nizami, Salauddin Quader Chowdhury and Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid.

About harassment of people by police in the name of searching vehicles, especially Dhaka-bound ones from different parts of the country, he said the duties of the law enforcement agencies are to ensure the security of public life and property.

“The law enforcers are performing their duties to ensure the security of public life and property as the opposition is conspiring to carry out subversive acts centering the grand rally,” he said.
