3 ‘muggers’ lynched in Keraniganj

Keraniganj, Mar 13 (UNB)–Three suspected muggers were beaten to death by a mob at Rohitpur under Keraniganj Model thana on Tuesday.
The deceased could not be identified immediately.
Police said Sohag, 26, son of Majibar of Belna village and a Saudi expatriate, along with his mother was going to his home by a CNG-run auto-rickshaw after withdrawing Tk 20 lakh from Islami Bank, Jinjira branch.
When they reached at Rohitpur on Jinjira-Nababganj road three snatchers appeared there in a private car and waylaid their auto-rickshaw at about 12 noon.
The muggers snatched Tk 20 lakh from Sohag, a mobile phone set and gold ornaments from his mother at gun point. When the snatchers were fleeing Sohag raised a huge and cry.
Hearing the screams, local people rushed in and caught the trio red-handed in front of Bank Asia under the thana and gave them a tremendous thrashing, leaving them dead on the spot and critically injuring the car driver. The angry mob also vandalised the private car.
The injured was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Police recovered the bodies and sent those to hospital morgue for autopsy.
