News - BSF stops Padua farmers from farming
Sylhet, Mar 18 (UNB) – Members of Indian Border Security Force (BSF) stopped farmers from farming vegetables inside 1000 yards of Bangladesh boundary at Padua border in Goainghat upazila on Friday morning.

Sources said 20-30 BSF jawans forcibly walked into Bangladesh territory and obstructed farmer Sadek Mia from working on a vegetable field at about 10am.

Later, Protappur Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members appeared at the spot and decided to hold a flag meeting.

The BGB and BSF held a flag meeting at 1271 No. main pillar in the area at about 11am on Saturday.

BGB Company Commander Riaz and Camp Commander Nayek Subeder Nizam Uddin led the Bangladesh team while Maghaloy Padua Company Commander Bishnu Dey led the Indian side to the flag meeting.

Contacted, Commander Riaz confirmed the incident of BSF obstruction. He said both sides at the flag meeting decided to stop cultivation on disputed land for maintaining peace along the border, frustrating the Bangladeshi farmers.
