Pollard leads WIndies to 294-7 vs. Australia

CASTRIES, MAR 23 (AP/UNB) - Kieron Pollard smashed 102 off 70 balls Friday as West Indies reached 294-7 in 50 overs in the fourth one-day cricket international against Australia at Beausejour Stadium.

The 24-year-old allrounder hit eight sixes and five fours to lift the hosts after they stumbled to 146-5 in the 36th over.

Pollard shared a sixth-wicket stand of 94 off 64 deliveries with Andre Russell, who contributed 34.

Pollard's big hitting was responsible for 145 runs coming off the last 12 overs.

Captain Darren Sammy added 31 not out off 13 balls while openers Adrian Barath (41) and Johnson Charles (37) also chipped in.

Australia captain Shane Watson claimed 2-55 while Xavier Doherty (2-64) and Brett Lee (2-72) were expensive despite claiming two apiece.
