ETV chairman, MD get bail in tax dodging case
Dhaka, Mar 25 (UNB) – A court here on Sunday granted bail to Ekushey Television (ETV) chairman Abdus Salam and managing director Ashraful Alam on surrender in a tax evasion case.
Judge Mohammad Zahurul Haque passed the order.
Deputy Commissioner of taxes M Abu Sayeed Sohel filed the case against the duo with the court on March 20 on charge of intentionally not submitting their tax returns to the National Board of Revenue for fiscals 2008-09 and 2010-11. The complainant further alleged that the accused committed the same offence after being notified over their non-compliance.
Earlier, Dr Mohammad Akhtaruzaman, acting judge of the court had summoned the two ETV bosses asking them to appear before it by Apr 10.
