HSC exams begin Sunday

News - HSC exams begin Sunday
Dhaka, Mar 29 (UNB) – Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and its equivalent examinations begin across the country on Sunday with a total of 926,814 candidates sitting for that.

The number of examinees this year marked a rise 147,373 since 779,441 students registered for the HSC and equivalent examinations last year.

Of the total examinees this year, 496,395 are male and 430,419 female. The examinations will be held in 2,196 centres across the country under 10 education boards, including Madrasah and technical boards.

The number of examinees is 750,852 in eight general education boards, 85,226 in Madrasah board, 86,415 in technical education board and 4,321 under Diploma-in-Business Studies (DIBS).

Ahead of the examinations, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid at a press conference at his office on Thursday said the government has already taken all necessary steps to hold the examinations in a fair and peaceful manner.

About the foreign centres, Nahid said although a total of 182 students were registered to appear in five foreign centers this year, three examinees from Tripoli will take part in the examinations back at home.
