8 commercial banks donate to Bangabandhu Memorial Trust

Dhaka, Mar 29 (UNB) - Eight private commercial banks on Thursday donated to the Bangabandhu Memorial Trust.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, also the chairperson of the Trust, received cheques for the donations at her official residence Gonobhaban in the evening.

Chairman of the Bangladesh Banks Association and chairman of Exim Bank M Nazrul Islam Majumder, vice chairman of Islami Bank Prof Abu Naser M Abdur Zaher, chairman of Shahjalal Islami Bank Anwar Hossain Khan, chairman of Standard Bank Qazi Akram Hossain, chairman of Bank Asia Abdur Rouf Chowdhury, chairman of Dutch-Bangla Bank Foundation M Shahbuddin, chairman of NCC Bank Nurun Newaz Chowdhury and vice chairman of Mercantile Bank Akram Hossain Humayun were present on the occasion.

The Prime Minister thanked the bankers for their donations.

Sheikh Hasina urged them to come forward to provide donations to the Education Assistance Fund to support poor but meritorious students.
