Pabna, Mar 30 (UNB) - Three shops were gutted by a fire which broke out at the ground floor of a two-storey market in the district town on Thursday morning.

Fire service sources said the fire originated from an electric short circuit at a cloth shop of the market ‘New Point’ at about 8:30 am and soon engulfed the two other adjacent shops.

Being informed four fire fighting units and a police team rushed in and doused the flame after one hour of hectic efforts with the help of local people.

The affected shop owners, in preliminary estimate, put the loss from the fire at about Tk one crore.
