News - Ex-Viqarunnisa teacher Parimal denied bail, next hearing May 7
Dhaka, Apr 2 (UNB) – A court here Monday rejected the bail prayer of Parimal Joydhar, the sacked teacher of Basundhara branch of Viqarunnisa Noon School, in a case of molesting a girl student.

Judge Arifur Rahman of the 4th Special Tribunal for Prevention of Women and Children Repression also adjourned the trial till May 7 as no witness turned up before the court today to give deposition in the sensational rape case.

Detectives arrested Parimal, 30, on July 6 last year from his sister`s Keraniganj residence where he was hiding after the victim`s father filed a rape case against him and his two other senior colleagues in early January last year.

The court issued warrants of arrest against former principal of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College Hosne Ara Begum and its Bashundhara branch chief Lutfor Rahman in the same case after the filing of a charge sheet.

Later, the court granted bail to Hosne Ara on January 9 and Lutfor Rahman on January 10 last year upon surrender.

A supplementary charge sheet was submitted on August 14, 2011, dropping the names of Hosne Ara and the school`s Basundhara branch head Lutfur Rahman after the court exempted both from the case.

Viqarunnissa Noon School and College authorities sacked Parimal as the serious allegation triggered an outcry from the guardians. The authorities also removed Principal Hosne Ara.
