Dhaka, Apr 3 (UNB) - Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid on Tuesday said the government will introduce 20,500 multimedia classrooms in secondary schools across the country by 2013.
“Some schools have already introduced digital classrooms on their own. It’ll bring about a radical charge in teaching method in the next few years,” he said.
His remarks came while inaugurating digital classrooms at Bir Srestha Nur Mohammad Public College and Bir Shreshtha Munshi Abdur Rouf Public College, both run by Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).
He said there should be changes in the mindsets of teachers and students with the development of technology, and urged the authorities of solvent schools and colleges to introduce multimedia classrooms in their educational institutions.
Digital multimedia touch-screen projector has been installed in 25 classrooms in each of the two colleges for smooth teaching in the classrooms. Teaching in the classrooms can be monitored and preserved centrally if the classrooms are digitalised.
The government has already taken up a Tk 306 crore project to set up multimedia classrooms and provide training to the teachers.
BGB DG Major General Anwar Hossain, DG of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Directorate Prof Noman-ur-Rashid and principals of the two colleges were, among others, present.
