Students urged to develop good moral character

Dhaka, Apr 05 (UNB) - The students have been urged to develop good moral character and become good scientists.

The call was made by Dhaka University Vice Chancellor of Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique while speaking as the chief guest at a function organized to mark a twin occasion - orientation of the 12th batch students of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Department and a reception to bid farewell to the 6th batch graduates of the same department, held at Teacher Student Centre (TSC) on Thursday.

Terming the present time as the age of science, especially as the era of genetic engineering and biotechnology, Prof Dr Arefin Siddique urged the students of the department to work with sincerity and skill in order to excel in their respective arena.

Attaching utmost importance to utilisation of time he urged them to be time conscious so they could greatly contribute to the country and the nation by properly using their talent and skill by making good use of time.

``A time conscious nation can achieve the real development``, he added.

Chaired by Prof Dr Aftab Uddin, chairman of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Department, the function was also addressed by Prof Dr Shahid Akther Hussain, the special guest and dean of Biology Faculty, Dr Anwar Hossain, the guest of honour and president of Dhaka University Teachers Association (DUTA) and Prof Dr Rafiqul Islam of the department.
