Dhaka, Apr 11 (UNB) - A five-member committee has been formed to look into matter on whether the tender evaluation of Railways Ministry in the last three years was carried out in proper way.
Mohammad Shah Alam has been made convener. Four other members are: AA Maruf Saklan, AKM Bahauddin, Golam Faruk Khandaker Prince and Rehana Akhter Ranu.
The directive in this regard came at a meeting of the parliamentary standing committee on Railways Ministry at Sangsad Bhaban on Wednesday.
It held discussion on the number of tender invited in RTM and OTM systems by Railways Ministry in last three years and report on price related information.
The committee was formed to look into matter on whether accuracy was maintained in the tender evaluation process, said a release of Jatiya Sangsad.
The meeting called for treating the Railways as service sector, saying that all out attention should be given for maintaining the schedule of rail.
At its first meeting, the committee discussed the progress of different works of Bangladesh Railways under Indian loan.
Chaired by committee chairman Mohammad Matiur Rahman the meeting stressed on bringing dynamism to the activities of the ministry.
Committee member and Railways Minister Suranjit Sen Gupta, AA Maruf Saklan, Mohammad Shah Alam, AKM Bahauddin, Mazharul Haque Prodhan, Tanvir Shakil Joy, Golam Faruk Khandaker Prince and Rehana Akhter Ranu attended the meeting.
