Dhaka, Apr 12 (UNB) - The 7th National Hydrographic Committee meeting was held at Naval Headquarters in Dhaka on Thursday.
Chairman of National Hydrographic Committee and Assistant Chief of Naval Staff Rear Admiral M Farid Habib, (ND), ndc, psc, BN chaired the meeting, attended by representatives from concerned ministries and organisations.
At the outset, the chairman praised Bangladesh Navy and other concerned organisations for providing bathymetric and other relevant data to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs which was subsequently used in the maritime boundary delimitation process between Bangladesh and Myanmar.
Various issues related to hydrographic survey, maritime safety information services and production of nautical charts for the Bay of Bengal were discussed in the meeting.
Mentionable, the committee was formed in 2001 to coordinate all the hydrographic activities and ensure optimum utilization of limited hydrographic resources of the country.
