Bogra, Apr 12 (UNB) - Thousands of people, including students, at a protest rally here on Wednesday condemned the killing of schoolboy Naimul Islam alias Naim and demanded death penalty of the killers.

Abductors killed and burned the body of Naim, a meritorious student of class VII of Kahalu High School, in a brick field on April 5.

The huge protest rally was held at Battala on the last day of a three-day programme organised by Kahalu High School demanding that the killers of Naim be brought to justice.

Chaired by president of the school managing committee and upazila Awami League unit chief Kamal Uddin Kabiraj, the rally was addressed, among others, by Naim’s father Rafiqul Islam, mother Ivy Ara, upazila vice-chairman Abdul Karim Akand, local BNP unit president Faridur Rahman, JP leader Ibrahim Ali and headmaster of the school Abdul Mannan.

They demanded that the charge sheet in the case be submitted in 72 hours.

Later, they brought out a procession blocking roads and submitted a memorandum to the UNO. Business establishments were closed when the procession was brought out.
