Mohammedan SC retain winning run beating Arambagh KS 3-1

Dhaka, Apr 12 (UNB) - Dhaka Mohammedan SC Ltd. maintained their winning run in the Grameenphone Bangladesh Premier League as they beat Arambagh KS by 3-1 goals at the Bangabandhu National Stadium here today (Thursday).

With the day’s result, the traditional black and white Mohammedan SC advanced to the 7th place in the league table securing nine points from eight matches while Arambagh KS went down to the 9th position with eight points from as many matches.

Mohammedan SC, who beat Rahmatganj MFS 4-0 in their previous match, took lead in the 20th minute from a penalty taken by Nigerian forward Basden Wilcox (1-0). This was the sixth goal for Wilcox in the league.

Referee Azad Rahman awarded the spot kick in favour of Mohammedan SC while their promising forward Wahed was brought down by opponent defender in the danger zone while he was trying to make a header from a Shariful cross

Wilcox doubled the Mohammedan margin in the 64th minute by a ground shot after dodging past two opposing defenders and the Arambagh’s substitute custodian Shawon (2-0).

Wahed sealed the fate of the match in the 72nd minute scoring the 3rd goal for Mohammedan SC, utilizing a neat back pass of Shariful from the right flank (3-0).

Nigerian medio Ujumefun Joel scored the consolation goal for Arambagh KS in the injury time from a penalty. Arambagh got the spot kick when Mohammedan’s substitute forward Rony fouled Arambagh midfielder Dalim in the middle of the D-box (3-1)

Earlier, in the 57th minute, Arambagh defender Biplob Das made a spectacular goal line save to deny Mohammedan forward Wahed a goal from his placing shot.

In the last minute of the stoppage time, Arambagh defender Prasanta got the marching order after receiving a direct red card for rough charge against Kenneth Ochendo, the Nigerian forward of Mohammedan.
