Dhaka, Apr 13 (UNB) - Speakers at a function here on Friday said that women can prove their potentials as successful entrepreneurs if they have access to facilities.
Even the marginalised women of remote villages are no exception, they made the remarks while launching a brand outlet ‘Gaon Swapna’ at a Boishakhi Mela-1419 at Baridhara DOHS marking the Bangla New Year.
The brand - carrying the dreams of numerous marginalised women - has started its journey with the joint CSR initiative of Bank Alfalah Ltd, Midas Financing Ltd, City Bank Ltd, Manusher Jonno Foundation (MJF), Green World Communication and MRDI.
A group of women from a remote village of the Sundarbans, trained under MRDI’s CSR initiative, have produced some handicraft items that have been showcased at the mela, said a press release.
Qubee has come forward to promote livelihood option of these vulnerable women through purchasing most of the products in the very first lot.
Appreciating the initiative, chief executive officer of Qubee Jerry Mobbs said, “We are proud to support an empowered group of women from a small village in the Sunderbans who have found an innovative way of making a living using locally sourced material to create goods that we can now purchase and use as gifts for the Bangla New year.”
