News - Khaleda to announce name of expanded alliance Wednesday

Dhaka, Apr 17 (UNB) - BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia will formally announce the name of the expanded four-party alliance led by her party tomorrow (Wednesday) to intensify the ongoing anti-government campaign.

She will declare the name of the new alliance at a press conference at Diploma Engineers’ Institution at 3pm. Now the four-party alliance is comprised of BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami, BJP, IOJ and Khelafat Majlish.

Eleven more new parties, including Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), Jagpa, NPP, NDP Bangladesh Labour Party, Bangladesh Kalyan Party, NAP, Muslim League and Democratic League are likely to be taken into the expanded fold of the alliance. On March 12, opposition leader Khaleda Zia at a grand rally in the capital declared that they had decided to expand the four-party alliance
