Dhaka, Apr 17 (UNB) - Defending champions Bangladesh made a good start in the 4th Men’s AHF Cup Hockey beating Chinese Taipei by 4-2 goals in a Pool B match in Bangkok today (Tuesday).
Bangladesh, which began their AHF Cup Hockey campaign today as the last time champions in Singapore in 2008, dominated the first half by a solitary goal, scored by Krishna Kumar in the very 4th minute of the match.
Kamruzzaman scored the second goal for Bangladesh in the 44th minute while vice-captain cum penalty corner specialist Mamunur Rahman Chayan added two mores goals for Bangladesh in the 58th and 65th minutes, both from penalty corners.
Chinese Taipei scored two goals in the 43rd and 47th minutes.
Bangladesh, placed in Pool B with Chinese Taipei, Singapore and hosts Thailand, will play Singapore on Thursday (Apr 19) and hosts Thailand on Friday (Apr 20) in the remaining pool matches.
Earlier, a 20-member Bangladesh National Hockey team, led by famed forward Russell Mahmud Jimmy, left Dhaka for Bangkok on Saturday (Apr 14) to take part in the 4th Men’s AHF Cup Hockey scheduled for April 16-24.
