News - Man slaughtered in Meherpur
Meherpur, Apr 18 (UNB) – A man was slaughtered following a land dispute at Gobipur village on the outskirts of the district town this (Wednesday) morning.

The deceased was identified as Mujibur Rahman, 41, son of Toyob Ali of the village.

Police said Mujib and Nasir Uddin of the village had long been at loggerheads over a piece of land. The supporters of Nasir felled some trees on the disputed land in the morning.

When Mujib tried to resist them at about 8 am, they started chopping him indiscriminately and later slaughtered him.

Four other people also suffered injuries as they came to the rescue of Mujib.

On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Meherpur General Hospital morgue for autopsy.

The injured were admitted to the same hospital.
