ISLAMABAD, APR 18 (AP/UNB) - Pakistan's Supreme Court has ruled that a Hindu woman who captured international attention because her family claimed her husband forced her to convert to Islam should be allowed to return to her partner.

Police officer Ghulam Ahmed Awan says Rinkal Kumari, 19, and two other Hindu women also allegedly forced to convert to Islam told the court Wednesday that they wanted to go home to their husbands.

The court had placed Kumari and one of the other women in a shelter for three weeks so they could decide what they wanted without pressure from others.

Religious minorities in Pakistan have claimed forced conversions to Islam have become the latest weapon of Islamist extremists, but some families may be claiming a conversion is forced because they disagree with it.
