Dhaka, Apr 22 (UNB) – The University Grants Commission (UGC) chairman Prof. Dr. AK Azad Chowdhury has been honoured with Bangabandhu Award.
Bangabandhu Council Australia honoured him with this prestigious award for his outstanding contribution to the field of education and research for 2012, said a press release.
The award was conferred on Prof. Azad Chowdhury at Boishakhai Mela 2012 held in Sydney Olympic Park, Australia on Saturday.
President of Bangabandhu Council Australia Sheikh Shamimul Huque, general secretary Tushar Roy and senior executive committee member Dr. Abdur Razzaque, among others, were present on the occasion.
The UGC chairman left the country for Australia on April 17 to receive the Award and attend Boishakhi Mela.
He is expected to return on April 24.
