News - Qatar offers to invest in various sectors of Bangladesh
Doha (Qatar), Apr 23 (UNB) – Qatar has offered to invest in areas like communication, gas, power, energy, infrastructure development and river dredging in Bangladesh.

Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassim Bin Jabr Al-Thani expressed his country’s interest when Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina met him at his office here.

PM’s press secretary Abul Kalam Azad briefed reporters after the meeting.

Azad said both the prime ministers discussed various issues of bilateral interests.

Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassim Bin Jabr Al-Thani appreciated Sheikh Hasina for his government’s various time-befitting steps that helped Bangladesh advance economically under her pragmatic and able leadership although the whole world under the stress of economic slowdown.

He also said the relations between Bangladesh and Qatar now are much better than any time before.

Foreign Minister Dipu Moni, Ambassador at-Large M Ziauddin, Shaikh M Wahid-uz-Zaman and Bangladesh Ambassador to Qatar M Shahdat Hossain were present during the meeting.

Earlier, the Prime Minister met Unctad Secretary-General Supachai Panitchpakdi at the Qatar National Convention Centre.

They discussed how Unctad could help Bangladesh in trade and for its development.

Among other issues, they discussed the future plan of Bangladesh for its development, the PM’s press secretary said.

Bangladesh permanent representative to Geneva Abdul Hannan was present.
