2 maunds hemp recovered, 1 held

Joypurhat, Apr 25 (UNB) - Police recovered two maunds of hemp from a truck and arrested an drug peddler at Jamalpur Pakar Matha in Sadar upazila on Wednesday.

The arrested was identified as Zahedul Islam, son of late Mozammel Huq of Quarter Para area in Kalai upazila.

Police said they received secret information that a salt laden truck carrying huge quantity of drugs left Comilla early in the morning and was moving towards Akkelpur upazila via Joypurhat.

A team of police caught the truck in the area after a good chase.

After searching the truck, they found two maunds of hemp hidden in salt sacks.

Police detained the truck and arrested the drug peddler.
