Panchagarh, Apr 25 (UNB) - India`s Border Security Force (BSF) tortured to death a Bangladeshi man at Mandulpara village at Bhajanpur in Tetulia upazila on Wednesday.
The dead is Oliar Rahman, 42, of the village.
BGB Bhajanpur Company Commander and the victim`s family members said a team of BSF of India`s Balabari border outpost picked up Oliar from Zero Line (no man`s land) and dragged him to Indian territory on Sunday.
They tied him up with a rope and hanged him from a tree and mercilessly beat him with stick, leaving him unconscious.
BSF handed him over to Chopra Police Station which admitted him to Islampur Hospital where he died on Wednesday afternoon.
After receiving a written complaint from Oliar`s family the BGB Company Commander sent a letter to Balabari BSF asking them to sit across the table in a flag meeting to discuss the matter.
Panchagarh 18 BGB Battalion Commander Lt Co Zakir Hossain admitted the incident.
The body was not returned till filing this report at 8-40 pm Wednesday.
The incident sent both, a shock and a panic wave at the village.
