Dhaka, Apr 26 (UNB) - Rashid Sheikh, a Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) cadet, who was forced to land his training aircraft on the Indian side of the border in Paschimbanga due to bad weather, will soon return home, Indian media reports said on Thursday.
“Now, he (Rashid) will be returned to Bangladesh and the IAF (Indian Air Force) is arranging to take him back to Dhaka Thursday itself," Indo-Asian News Service (IANS) said in its report quoting an IAF official.
Rashid Sheikh had taken off on the PT6 training aircraft from the Jessore air base of the BAF Training Academy on Wednesday evening on a training sortie.
Rashid was forced to crash land on an agricultural land near Raigrama village in Murshidabad's Salar area on the Indian side due to bad weather, the IAF official said.
Indian Border Security Force (BSF) got the first report of the training aircraft losing contact with the Jessore air traffic control from the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).
The cadet sustained minor injuries due to rough landing on an uneven surface and was rescued by the Indian authorities, who rushed him to the Kolkata Command Hospital for medical attention, the official said.
