Gazipur, Apr 26 (UNB) – A youth was killed and eight other people were injured in a road accident at Parabarta on Dhaka By-pass road in Kaliganj upazila on Thursday afternoon.

The dead is Rubel, 22, a student and hailed from Rupganj upazila of Narayanganj district.

Witnesses said a speedy covered van collided head-on with a Leguna (human hauler), instantly killing Leguna passenger Rubel, injuring eight other passengers at 4-30 pm.

The condition of most of the injured were stated to be critical. They were admitted to different hospitals and clinics.

The accident created a gridlock on the busy road.

Several hundred vehicles remained stranded on both sides of it for 30 mnutes before police and rescuers recovered the body, rescued the injured and removed the battered vehicle from the road.
