Barisal, Apr 26 (UNB) – Locals chased and caught a young woman, allegedly member of `Aggyan Party` and handed her over to police in the city on Thursday.
Officer-in-Charge of Barisal Kotwali Police Station said Kajal Aktar, 18, daughter of Ilias Sheikh of Harinkandi of Kashiani upazila of Gopalganj and Mirajul Islam, 20, alias Raj son of Halim Sheikh of Marichpasha of Lohagora upazila of Narail district introducing themselves as husband and wife rented a room of the house of Yasmin Akhtar Pakhi at the city`s Rupatali on April 22.
On Thursday morning, the two tenants offered fruit juice to Pakhi`s family members and other inmates of her house which was mixed with sedatives.
After drinking the fruit juice, three inmates of Pakhi`s house- Minara Begum, 35, Sumona Hasan, 18, and Sabbir, 8 - fainted and fell on the floor.
The fake couple immediately took the advantage and looted cash money, gold and other valuables from the house and made an attempt to escape.
Being suspicious of their movement neighbours challeged them and managed to capture both after a good chase.
The neighbours also rushed the victims to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital in senseless condition.
However, Kajal`s accomplice Raj managed to escape from the scene hoodwinking his captors and the mobs.
Kajal was handed over to police.
