FRANKFURT, Germany, Apr 27 (AP/UNB) - Germany will not bid for the 2020 European Championship.

German federation (DFB) president Wolfgang Niersbach says the thought of hosting Europe's best teams is exciting, but "after we hosted the 2006 and the 2011 (women's) World Cups, other nations have the right to play host."

The DFB recently said it was considering making a bid but its board met on Friday to discuss the idea and decided not to go ahead.

After the European Championship in June in Poland and Ukraine, France will host the 2016 edition.
