Kishoreganj, Apr 28 (UNB) - Police arrested joint general secretary of district unit BNP Khaled Saifullah Sohel from Harua area in the town on Saturday.

Police arrested him at noon when he was talking to party activists after attending party’s rally and procession.

The programme was held demanding the safe return of party leader Ilias Ali immediately.

Sadar Model thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mir Mosharraf Hossain said he was arrested in connection with two cases filed against him for vandalizing a pick-up van at Ekrampur crossing on Sunday night and setting fire to a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at Nilganj Road on Monday night.

Meanwhile, BNP chairperson’s adviser and former Education Minister Dr. M Osman Faruk, district BNP president Advocate Fazlur Rahman and general secretary Mazharul Islam condemned the arrest of Sohel and demanded his immediate release.
