Dhaka, Apr 28 (UNB) – A passenger bus and a microbus were torched and five cocktails exploded in the city ahead of Saturday’s countrywide shutdown called by BNP demanding return of the party’s missing central leader M Ilisa Ali.
However, no casualty was reported.
Police said a group of youths set fire to a bus using petrol at the Home Economics College-New Market intersection in Azimpur at about 4pm.
In another incident, five cocktails were exploded and a microbus was set ablaze by unknown miscreants near Technical Institute at Rokeya Swarani in Shewrapara at about 8:5pm.
BNP and its allies on Saturday afternoon called another spell of non-stop hartal for Sunday and Monday as the government failed to find Ilias Ali, the party’s Sylhet division organising secretary, and his private car driver Ansar Ali.
Ilias, a former MP and Ansar went missing around the midnight of April 17 and his car was found abandoned at capital’s Mahakhali near his Banani Chairmanbari residence.
