Dhaka, Apr 30 (UNB) – Food and Disaster Management Minister Dr Abdur Razzaque on Monday said the government will procure 10 lakh metric tonnes of rice during this Boro season.

“We’ve decided to procure 9 lakh tonnes of rice at Tk 28 per kg and 1.5 lakh tonnes of paddy at Tk 18 per kg from local markets,” he said while addressing a press conference at the Secretariat after a meeting of Food Planning and Monitoring Committee.

Dr Razzaque said the procurement will begin on May 3 and continue till September next.

Finance Minister AMA Muhith, Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury, Commerce Minister GM Quader, Finance Adviser to the Prime Minister Dr Moshiur Rahman and Cabinet Secretary M Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan, were among others, present at the meeting.
