4 Jessore police officers sued

Benapole, Apr 30 (UNB) - Four Jessore police officers on Monday were sued by a local Jubo League (JL) activist for torturing six JL men including the complainant on charge of assaulting a cop on Feb 17.

Jubo League (JL) activist Uttam Dey, son of Sunil Dey of Mohonpur village of Manirampur upazila, filed the case with Jessore Senior Magistrate`s Court, against Humayun Kabir, Sub Inspector (SI) of
Detective Branch (DB) police, Jessore, Pranab Kumar Second Officer of Manirampur thana, SI Jahangir Alam and ASI Syed Babul Aktar for arresting and inhumanly torturing upazila unit JL president Devashish Sarkar and six activists, including himself for obstructing a police team, led by ASI Babul Aktar which attempted to rescue a mugger from a mob at Mohonpur Badamtola Bridge on Feb 17.

The six arrestees were enlarged on bail recently and Uttam filed the case against the four cops today.
