News - Country belongs to people, not political parties: Dr Kamal
Dhaka, May 3 (UNB) – Gono Forum president Dr Kamal on Thursday said all programmes and plans of the country are being taken on political consideration though the country does not belong to political parties.

“As per the constitution, the state belongs to people...the major political parties have failed to perform their duty. If any party fails to perform its duty, it should go out of power,” he told a press conference at the National Press Club on Thursday.

Asked about the government’s failure, Dr Kamal said an abnormal situation is prevailing in the country. “The government is using its power wrongly. All the state mechanisms, including the government, the administration, parliament and even the judiciary are not functioning as per the constitution,” he added.

Lamenting that there is no transparency in the country, Dr Kamal urged the government to take steps to bring about a real change in the country.

Replying to a question, he said people want to see the implementation of the constitution and establishment of the rule of law, but there is no rule of law in the country.
