
Dhaka, Apr 4 (UNB)- Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal, the youth wing of BNP, on Friday announced countrywide demonstrations on May 7-8 demanding the withdrawal of ‘false and conspiratorial’ cases against its leaders as well as the return of missing BNP organizing secretary M Ilias Ali alive.
Jubodal senior vice president Abdus Salam Azad announced the programme at a press conference at the BNP central office this noon.
Protest rallies and processions will be organized at thana, upazila and municipality levels on May 7 while in districts and cities on May 8.
The programme is also aimed at releasing the arrested leaders and workers including BNP leaders Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and Kamruzzman Ratan and withdrawal cases against them.
Cases were filed against Jubodal president Moazzem Hossain Alal and general secretary Saiful Alam Nirob on charges of exploding bombs at the Secretariat and burning buses in the capital during the hartal on April 29.
Jubo Dal leaders Mir Newaz Ali Newaz, Fazlur Rahman, KM Khalil, Ali Akbar Chunnu and Amzad Hossain were, among others, present at the press conference.
