News - Fakhrul among accused BNP leaders take shelter at SCBA building
Dhaka, May 6 (UNB) - A group of BNP leaders, including its acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, took shelter at the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA)  building on the apex court precinct on Sunday.

The other BNP leaders are MK Anwar, Mirza Abbas, Goyeshawr Chandra Roy, Amanullah Aman, Abdus Salam, Ruhul Quddus Dulu, Habib Unnabi Sohel and Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie, sources at the Supreme Court said.

Apprehending arrest, the accused BNP leaders are likely to surrender before the High Court on Monday seeking ad interim anticipatory bails in connection with the criminal cases filed against them on charges of torching a vehicle near the Prime Minister’s Office and bomb blasts at the Secretariat during hartal on April 29.

Earlier, after filing of the cases, the accused leaders could not enter the SC premises due to heavy police surveillance, claimed BNP leaders.

Meanwhile, both plainclothes and police in uniform reinforced their presence at different strategic points around the apex court.
