News - Legal battle, street movement to continue: Fakhrul

Dhaka, May 7 (UNB) - BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Monday said their legal battle and street agitations will continue until their desired goal is achieved.

He made the remark at an instant press briefing at the BNP central office at about 5:30pm.

Fakhrul came to the party central office from the High Court following its split orders on their bail petitions in the afternoon.

Fakhrul along with other leaders of BNP and its allies are accused in two cases filed in connection with torching buses and exploding bombs on the Secretariat compound during hartal on April 29.

He alleged that the government having failed to politically face its opponents has flied ‘false’ cases against the top leaders of BNP and its allies.

About today’s High Court orders on their bails, the BNP acting secretary general said, “We’re now free following the HC verdict.”

Earlier, on his arrival, leaders and workers of BNP and its front and associate organisations welcomed Fakhrul at the office with bouquets.

BNP standing committee member Nazrul Islam Khan formally received Fakhrul and other leaders at the party office.
