News - US wants free, credible polls in Bangladesh: Mozena
Benapole, May 8 (UNB) - US Ambassador Dan W Mozena on Tuesday said the USA wants free fair and credible polls in Bangladesh to be held with the participation of all political parties.

The US envoy made the remarks while talking to reporters in a press briefing after visiting the Benapole Land Port in the morning.

About investment, Mozena said Bangladesh will have increased investment if political stability prevails in the country. “Bangladesh will have to create an investment-friendly environment if it wants to survive the competition with China.”

He said, “Bangladesh is a prospective country and its readymade garment sector has already earned fame in the international market. The RMG sector of the country has been expanding as labour cost is higher in China compared to that in Bangladesh.”

Mozena visited international immigration check post and Benapole Land Port and talked to immigration and customs officials. Later, he visited Raghunathpur BGB BoP camp.

Mozena’s wife Grace Mozena, USAID mission director Richard Green, BGB Khulna sector commander Col A Hamid, Customs Commissioner Masud Sadiq were present during the visit.
