News - Three killed in Ashulia road crash
Savar, May 8 (UNN) - Three people, including two members of a family, were killed and two others injured when a truck crashed into a rickshaw-van at Narasinghapur on Abdullahpur-EPZ road in Ashulia early Tuesday.

The deceased were identified as Piyara Begum, 38, wife of Mostafa Talukder, their daughter Amena Begum, 12, and Sabuj Mia, 28, the rickshaw-van puller.

Police said the brick-laden truck hit the rickshaw-van from behind at about 4:30 am while Mostafa along with others was taking his sick son Piyash to nearby Women and Children Health Centre.

The rickshaw-van skidded off the road and fell into a roadside ditch after the truck slammed into it, killing Piyara, Amena and Sabuj on the spot and injuring Mostafa and Piyash.

On information, police recovered the bodies and sent those to hospital morgue for autopsy.

Police seized the truck but its driver and helper managed to escape.

Piyara hailed from Atharogachhia village of Amtali upazila in Barguna district while Sabuj from Balidanga area of Satkhira district, police said.
