Dhaka, May 9 (UNB) - A court here on Wednesday granted bail to BNP MP Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokan on his surrenders before it in a case filed over recent hartal violence.
Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Erfanullah granted the bail till May 20 upon a bond of Tk 10,000 with two grantors.
Following an HC order, Khokan came to the trial court at about 10am and surrender before it with a bail petition.
After hearing, the court granted him bail.
Earlier on May 3, a High Court bench with Justice Khondker Musa Khaled granted an ad interim anticipatory bail to Khokan on surrender before it in connection with the case.
The bench was constituted by the Chief Justice following the split orders over the bail matter by an HC division bench.
On May 2, Presiding judge M Anwarul Haque had granted him an anticipatory bail for a week asking him to surrender before the trial court by the time while co-judge M Mujibor Rahman Mian rejected his plea.
Tejgaon police filed a case against 44 leaders and activists of the BNP-led 18-party alliance, including Mahbub Uddin Khokan, for torching a vehicle near the Prime Minister's Office during hartal on April 29.
