College teacher held with touchstone statue in Laxmipur

Laxmipur, May 10 (UNB) - A college teacher along with a touchstone made statue worth about Tk 2.35 crore was arrested from a rented house at Deupara in Sadar upazila on Wednesday evening.

The arrestee was identified as Umar Faruk, son of late Atiq Ullah of Khil village of Begumganj upazila of Noakhali district. He is a teacher of Khilpara Abdul Wahab College in Chatkhil upazila of the same district.

On secret information, a team of Detective Branch (DB) of police led by SI Mostafa Anwar raided the house of Karim Uddin Molla of the area in the guise of buyers and arrested Faruk. Later they recovered the statue weighting about 47 kg from his room.

A case was filed.
