LONDON, MAY 10 (AP/UNB) - An oil rig helicopter has ditched in the North Sea, with early reports indicating that 14 passengers and two crewmen were able to get into a liferaft without suffering injuries.
Coast Guard officials say the incident happened shortly after noon on Thursday. Officials say a rescue is in progress about 25 miles off the coast of Aberdeen, Scotland.
The Coast Guard said in a statement that the Bond Air Services helicopter was traveling from Aberdeen when it broadcast an alert that it was ditching.
