Dhaka, May 11 (UNB) - BNP leaders on Friday said the government will be forced to hold the next general election under a non-party, neutral caretaker government through an irresistible movement.

Addressing a human chain,  BNP standing committee member Barrister Moudud Ahmed  said the current movement will be stepped up in phases in such a way that the Awami League-led government will be compelled to amend the Constitution to hold the next general election under a non-party caretaker administration.

Diploma Engineers’ Association of Bangladesh organised the human chain in front of the National Press Club demanding immediate halt to plundering in the name of quick rental power, holding the next general election under non-party caretaker government and the return of missing BNP leader M Ilias Ali.

Moudud said the government will have to come to reach an understanding. "Otherwise, BNP will continue its movement on the caretaker government issue."

The former Law Minister said if the government does not want to hold election under a caretaker government it will have to give election under non-party neutral interim government.

Addressing another human chain in front of the National Press Club, another standing committee member of BNP Barrister Rafiqul Islam Mia said the movement will continue until Ilias Ali is returned.

He said BNP will not participate in national election without the restoration of non-party, neutral government.
