The deceased was identified as Ayez Uddin, 60, resident of the village.

Police said Ayez along with labourers went to a land near his house to dry paddy when Anwarul Islam asked him not to do it claiming his ownership over the land.

Then an altercation ensued between Anwarul and Ayez. At one stage, Anwarul hit the abdomen of Ayez with a heavy stick, leaving him dead on the spot at about 10:30am, said police.
